Local pour · checked 2026-09-03

Albuquerque drinks like a high-desert town with a brewery in every direction and a taco on every corner of Central. The local pour is a New Mexico-brewed beer, then something with agave in Nob Hill. Downtown bridges the two with tasting rooms and rooftops.

Beer is brewed all over this town

New Mexico's brewing scene runs statewide through the New Mexico Brewers Guild, which exists to promote and protect the state's craft brewers — and Albuquerque alone holds more than a dozen breweries, per Visit Albuquerque. The happy-hour version shows up as local drafts on restaurant lists: Luca Italian Bistro & Wine Bar on Holly Avenue posts Aperitivo Hour Monday–Sunday from 2 PM to 6 PM with $4 select local beers, $6 select wines, and appetizers starting at $7. That $4 local-beer line is the cheapest way to taste the state.

Agave lives on Central in Nob Hill

Nob Hill is Central Avenue east of the university, and its taco rooms run the evening. Zacatecas at 3423 Central Avenue NE posts Happy Hour Monday–Friday 4–6 pm plus a Monday evening service-industry reverse Happy Hour 8–10 pm, with no dollar amounts on the page — a window play, so order whatever daily special the board names that day. A few blocks down, ZEMA Vinyl Lounge inside Hotel Zazz pours the listening-bar side of the night: Happy Hour Monday to Thursday 6 PM to 7 PM with $2 off all house cocktails.

The downtown tasting room

Town and Ranch is the Los Poblanos tasting room downtown, posting Happy Hour Tuesday–Friday 3–5 PM with no printed dollar amounts. It is the farm-brand outpost: cocktails and lavender-country branding in the middle of the city grid. Pair it with a second stop down Central and the afternoon is mapped.

How to drink it like a local
